Dr. Marianne McAdam
is a Full professor in the department of
Exercise and Sport Science where she teaches dance and
biomechanics classes, directs EKU Dance Theatre and
coordinates the Dance Minor program. She has been at
Eastern since 1989 having received her undergraduate
degree from the State University of NY at Brockport
and her Master´s and PhD from the University of Wisconsin,
Madison, in Dance Education and Kinesiology.
Dr. McAdam has been President of the Kentucky Association of
Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance (KAHPERD),
received an Award for Teaching Excellence from EKU in
1993 and 2004 and received the Dance Educator of the Year
and the Distinguished Service Award from KAHPERD in 1997
and 2001 respectively. Presently she is involved in a
Professional Education Fellows program in which she spends
40 hours a semester in the schools helping teachers learn
to include dance in their curriculum.
Dr. McAdam is in this profession to bring the joy of
dance to as many people as possible. In addition to
using this philosophy as the basis for her classes,
Dance Theatre offers the primary outlet for her and
her students to share their love of dance.
